A quick leg stretch along to Hartfield

Groombridge to Hartfield return

This was our first "threesome" for nearly a month due to holidays and weddings etc and we had planned on a long walk but the weather was against us. The forecast was rain from mid morning, light at first but getting heavier by early afternoon. So as none of us wanted to get soaked, we quickly made a plan B and decided to walk from Groombridge towards Hartfield as this gave us several options for cutting and running (and lunch!) should the weather get the better of us.

As it turned out, the cloud was heavy but we didn't get any rain on our outward walk and only slight splashes on the return so we ended up doing the complete 8 mile loop plus lunch at The Anchor. We have done this path on so many occasions that we could almost do it blindfold but it has some good sections and the relatively hard underfoot sections are a godsend on a wet day. And then a stopover at The Anchor is always a treat!
